UCTS: LECTURERS EQUIPPED IN BIM TECHNOLOGY

Saturday, 30 November 2019, Sibu: The School of Built Environment (SBE) of University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) is enhancing its undergraduate architecture programme in Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. A total of eleven lecturers of SBE attended the BIM introductory talks during the four days ARCHLine.XP Gateway to BIM architecture workshop conducted by Certified ARCHLine.XP Instructor, IDr. Denis Chong.

The upcoming ARCHLine.XP BIM workshops will cover the BIM technology in interior design and furniture design. 

The school has assigned four committed lecturers in pioneering the implementation of BIM teaching in UCTS, and they completed the first series of ARCHLine.XP workshop in Architecture BIM. The lecturers are now preparing themselves to conduct the first Architecture BIM training for the architecture students, expecting in early 2020.

The BIM programmes in UCTS is a result of proactive action of Assoc Prof Ar Haris Fadzilah Abdul Rahman, Dean, School of Built Environment in pioneering BIM technology for the higher education system. The university is well-known for its full commitment to embracing the use of high technology in teaching and training equipment. Now, with the use of the latest BIM technology in UCTS, the state-owned university is taking the lead in preparing its graduates with BIM skills, ready for Industrial Revolution 4.0 and in line with the university’s commitment to deliver up to date professional, industry-linked academic and TVET programmes.

The ARCHLine.XP Gateway to BIM education software granted to UCTS following the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the licensor, Cadline. Ltd, Budapest, Hungary and of University College Technology Sarawak, Sibu. The ARCHLine.XP BIM software is now ready for teaching and training of students from Architecture programme and the upcoming interior design programme in 2020.
