In line with the 4th Industry Revolution and BIM Level 2 development globally and Malaysia, UCTS is now incorporating BIM knowledge and BIM skills into its academic programmes and starting with the School of Built Environment the undergraduate will be equipped with the latest knowledge in BIM technology, skills in operating Archline.XP BIM software. Archline.XP is created by Cadline Ltd. The company, Cadline Ltd, was incorporated in 1991 in Budapest, by Hungarian private individuals. The company’s mission was to create user-friendly BIM-CAD software with a new approach. During the first stage of development, Archline.XP aimed at the particular segment of architecture, to help the architects who are involved with the renovation of historic buildings. The sales of the software started in Italy, due to the large number of historical buildings there. Today, Archline.XP is user-friendly, intelligent BIM software for architecture, interior design and furniture design, and it is a widely used BIM software mainly in Hungary and countries of the European Union. Since 2010, Cadline Ltd. offers educational support for institutions. In Hungary, eight (8) interior design schools taught Archline.XP as BIM design software with around 240 students per semester. In the industry, every year, around 800 Archline.XP workshop sessions were conducted. The ARCHLINE.XP is a BIM certified software by the buildingSMART – an international organisation which aims to improve the exchange of information between software applications used in the construction industry. It has developed Industry Foundation Classes (.IFC) as a neutral and open specification for Building Information Models (BIM).

With the implementation of Archline.XP and with close collaboration with Cadline Ltd representation in Malaysia, UCTS is taking another bold step into the internationalisation of UCTS programmes. In future, the students of UCTS will be able to enhance their academic studies through student exchange programmes with institutions in foreign countries and become the catalyst to shape the architecture, engineering and construction industries in Sarawak, Malaysia and the global community.
